A Proposal: Adult Summer School
Growing up, summer school sounded like the absolute worst punishment a kid could receive. A whole summer stuck inside, forced to spend extra time learning when you could be outside with friends or at the pool or beach. You were likely facing a subject you hadn't been able to master during the regular school year. You felt like a failure.
But what if summer is the exact right time to try things you couldn't master previously? What if it's a season built on slowing down, treating yourself with compassion and learning or re-learning something you haven't quite figured out yet. What if it's for more reading, more practicing, more lessons? What if its less about looking cool and admitting there is something to grow in, even if you aren't good at it right away?
What if this summer could be about trying, even when it makes us sweat a bit more than usual?
