baby needs a new pair of shoes
"You can be surprised by grief, but you can also be surprised by joy." - Morgan Harper Nichols
This is an exceptionally brilliant dichotomy. While true, what also rings true is that grief can make room for joy.
It can remove a person from our lives we didn't have the strength to remove ourselves.
It can bring clarity and intention.
It can force our hand when we're lacking courage and creativity.
It can bring us face-to-face with the areas of ourselves that are stagnant and stuck.
For example, if Austin had never gotten fired, she likely would have never written: "I'm Still Here." We are all still here. And though "here" can be so damn complicated, confusing, and scary at times - perhaps instead of bracing ourselves for the other shoe to drop, we could be getting a brand new pair of shoes altogether. What if the shoes we're losing no longer fit, are worn, uncomfortable, or just plain ugly?
So, get ready to step into a new season in a shiny new pair of shoes! But first, the old ones have to drop.
