Well ya’ll, we are nearing Valentine's Day.

Whether you buy in or not to…

The chubby caucasian angel that accosts you with sharpened arrows, the blood sugar-inducing confections, or the cherry, nougat, caramel, or coconut-filled guessing game…

Whether you are celebrating with your significant other or with the gals…

Whether you are going into the office or boning over rose pedals…

Whether you are experiencing love - sisterly, romantic, familial, or otherwise - we want to let you know that…

“Love is or it ain't. Thin love ain't love at all.” - Toni Morrison

Love is not minimal or translucent - real love is THICK. It does not leave you wondering or questioning what it is. And while our love languages are different - how we express and feel love - it is a language that is easily translated.

"Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place." - Zora Neale Hurston

Love will never make you shrink, never make you hide, and never make you small. We will not make ourselves or our needs small to fit in anyone's life. We’re thick remember!? Neither our love nor our hips can fit in your finite spaces.

"Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time." - Maya Angelou

We will not hold our hearts captive for the crimes of another. We will let it hurt, let it heal, and let it go. We will be open to love when it is right and when it is healthy.

“I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” - Marilyn Monroe

Yes, we are all accountable for our actions but we are not required to be perfect. And the hell with anyone who makes us feel otherwise. Love makes you long to be better while simultaneously making you feel accepted, seen, and safe.

“I found god in myself / and i loved her / i loved her fiercely” - Ntozake Shange

It starts with us. We teach people how to treat us, and if we do not recognize our beauty, divinity, and worth or set boundaries, no one else will.

“The leaves believe such letting go is love, such love is faith, such faith is grace, such grace is God. I agree with the leaves.” - Lucille Clifton

Sometimes walking away is the most loving thing you can do. Let those bastards fall ya'll.  Let'em fall dear.
