Never say never
If you've ever peed on yourself as an adult, it is quite a humbling experience. It's hard to be judgy. That is one of the fun parts about getting older.
No, not having your pelvic floor betray you or having your breast sandwiched between a panini maker. However, those things are a real treat, too.
But the older you get, the more you learn never to say never; often, being idealistic comes easy for someone with options, privilege, inexperience, and a youthful shine.
When life gets your nips in a vice grip or when you're backed against the wall, it's a little easier to piss yourself, figuratively speaking, that is - well, hell, literally, too.
One of my favorite quotes is, "We're all four or five bad decisions away from shitting in a bucket." -Matt Paxton from A&E Hoarders.
I overuse this quote! But the brevity and beauty of the statement are like poetry in the most crude and delightful ways.
Today, a bucket feels far off, but you never know what may happen tomorrow, and tomorrow, after a bit of shea butter, these little piggies may have to debut on Only Fans after they leave the market.
We're all just trying to make it. So, let's reserve our judgment.
We never know what will happen tomorrow, and we never know what someone else is going through. Maybe that one person wasn't being rude; perhaps they were trying to make it to the bathroom in time.
Let's be kind to ourselves and others. Let's remember when we uttered, "Oh, I would never," and then we did.
We sometimes find ourselves in spaces and situations we never dreamed we'd be in. Instead of dwelling on our decisions, let's focus on the lesson. Let us dwell on the beautiful struggle we all find ourselves in—humanity.
