Six Degrees of Bacon
Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon
This concept has always intrigued me. I wish I had zero degrees of separation from Bacon, so I'll be invited to sing, dance, pet a goat, eat crusty bread, and have wine with him and Kyra Sedgwick on their farm. At least, that's what I imagine. They seem like a genuinely delightful couple. I digress.
Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, or Bacon's Law, is a game based on the Six Degrees of Separation. The latter is the idea that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other. In Bacon's case, any actor can be linked to Bacon through their film roles within six steps.
It recently occurred to me that I have six degrees of separation from everyone who has everything I need. But I am still learning to ask for help at this big age. So why is it so hard to ask for help?
Do I want to appear as if I have it all together?
Do I not want to be a burden?
Did it not ever occur to me?
Whatever the reason, it is indeed not too late.
I'm sure there is someone you're close to:
Whose relationship or parenting style you admire.
Who manages money excellently.
Who's a physical fitness enthusiast or who has their wellness journey down to a science.
Who managed to land their dream career.
Who can write you the perfect reference.
Just think about it: if we utilized all our resources, if we opened our mouths and quieted our egos. They say closed mouths don't get fed, so I'm asking for Bacon.
