3 Mantras To Repeat When You Feel Insecure
We really thought that by our mid-30s, after having lots of different jobs and navigating roles like parent and partner we would feel at least a bit of a sense of security. But whether its whats happening in our country and the instability in our politics and uncertainty about the future of our planet, or just someone you saw thriving on Instagram, its easy to get knocked off your solid ground. Here are three mantras we have on repeat:

  1. Comparison is the thief of joy - this isnt just a great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt its actually a really wonderful invitation to stop looking over your shoulder at what those around you have or are doing, but to keep focused on your own life. Easier said than done but in our experience the more you do it the easier it gets.
  2. What if it all works out? - we've had this one on a loop as we can often be (ahem) really good at anticipating bad things happening in our future aka struggling with anxiety. A great definition of anxiety is future you being handed overwhelming tasks with underwhelming tools. But what if the future has tasks that arent overwhelming, or what if you have the tools to deal with the future? What if it all works out?
  3. "Good for her! Not for me.” - sometimes the choices others make result in us spinning out if we should be on the same path as those around us. So when we heard this quote from Amy Poehler, it really helps us celebrate (not judge) the choices others make around us without feeling like we have to make those same choices for ourselves. What helps you when you are feeling insecure?
